JOINING NSCC

To become a member of NSCC, you must be a baptized (immersed) believer in Jesus Christ; a Christian dedicated to following the teachings of God in Christ Jesus in the New Testament.

The Bible teaches that to become a Christian, one must do the following:

1. Believe that Jesus is the Son Of God (John 3:16). You must realize that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for your sins, was brought back to life three days later and is alive today in Heaven with God, waiting to return to earth again.

2. Repent of your sins (Acts 2:38). Because your sin has alienated and separated you from God, until you surrender control of your life to Jesus, you are an enemy of God. To repent means that you are sorry that you are living in opposition to God. To repent means that you turn away from your sinful life, stop any sinful behavior and strive to live as Jesus teaches. To repent means to 'change your mind'; to 'turn around and go the other direction'.  You stop and tell God you're sorry- that you truly feel sorry- that your sins put Jesus on the cross.

3. Confess your sins and your belief in Jesus (Romans 10:9). Confession means to publicly tell what you believe about Jesus and your desire to repent of your sins. You declare with your mouth in front of witnesses the decision that has been made in your heart.

4. Be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins (Acts 22:16). Baptism is the simple act of being immersed in water by another Christian. The Bible connects baptism to the forgiveness of sins, receiving the Holy Spirit, a clean conscience, symbolic participation in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, being born again and becoming a new creation. Jesus commanded His followers to baptize new believers in the Great Commission (Mattew 28:19), and so we baptize all who come to Christ in our church.  (This does NOT mean that you are 'baptized' into the membership of the North Syracuse Christian Church.  You are baptized into Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. You become a Christian; a follower of Jesus Christ.  If you'd like to become a part of our church fellowship, we welcome you in the name of Jesus as a brother or sister in Christ because you belong to Him!)

If you have already done these things, you are eligible for membership in our church. If you have not done any or all of these things but would like to do so or learn more, we would welcome you to attend our services and/or speak to our Pastor,

Monte Smith.
